PHRYGIA. Cidyessus. Philip I, with Philip II, 244-249. Hexassarion (Bronze, 36 mm, 15.13 g, 6 h), Aurelios Markos, first archont for the second time, 247-249. AYT K M IOY ΦIΛIΠΠOI CЄB Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip I, on left and seen from behind, facing laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip II, on right. Rev. ЄΠI AYP MAPKOY APX ΠP / TO / B / KIΔYHCCЄ/ΩN Mên, on left and wearing Phrygican cap, standing right and holding scepter with his right hand, facing Zeus, on right, seated left on throne and holding scepter with his left hand and patera in his right; between them, flaming altar. Von Aulock, Phrygien II, 588-591 (same dies). Very rare. Possibly only the fifth example known, all struck from the same die pair. Earthen deposits. Minor porosity, otherwise, about very fine.
